Vegan Chocolate Orange Cheesecake (No Bake Vegan Cake)

What I love about this dessert is how the many flavours change in your mouth - you start with a pretty simple sugary kick, then the orange zest and juice come in and the almonds kick in. It’s kind of crunchy and soft at the same time. I love it!

And I want to be honest: this is not my original recipe. I found it from one person’s blog (Wally Jay) who found it on another person’s blog (Ginger Vegan). Ha, welcome to the world of (most) recipe blogs! Jokes aside, please visit their blogs :)

Vegan Chocolate Orange Cheesecake Recipe



  • 160 g/ 5 oz almonds

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 80 g/ 3 oz raisins

  • 6 soft pitted dates

  • 2 tbsp vegan chocolate spread (e.g. Sweet Freedom Choc Pot)

  • 1 tsp maple syrup


  • 150 g/ 5 oz cashews, soaked in water for a few hours or overnight

  • 200 g/ 7 oz vegan cream cheese (e.g. Violife Cream Cheese)

  • zest of 1 orange

  • 3 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 4 tbsp vegan chocolate spread (e.g. Sweet Freedom Choc Pot)

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup 

Optional toppings:

  • orange zest

  • chocolate chips

  • vegan chocolate spread (e.g. Sweet Freedom Choc Pot)


  1. Make the base: Add almonds and cocoa powder to your blender and blend until it’s fine and crumbly. Add raisins, dates, vegan chocolate spread and maple syrup to this mix and blend until it’s blended and mixed well. 

  2. Using a spoon and then your fingers, pack this mixture tightly into the bottom of a cake tin of your choosing. (I used a 9 inch/ 22 cm cake tin with a clasp opening. If you have a cake tin without a clasp opening, put a baking foil or cling film into your tin to make it easier to take the cake out)

  3. Make the filling: Add all the filling ingredients to a blender and blend until it’s smooth. 

  4. Assemble the cake: Put the filling on top of your base and level it out. Decorate as you wish, cover with cling film and put it in the freezer for at least 1 hour.


This cake will last for a week in the fridge and up to a month in the freezer.
